LAST WEEKEND to Get Out the Vote for Labor!

The race for Maryland’s next Governor is down to its last few days, and we’re asking for one more push to help us Get Out the Vote. Come out this weekend to help us!

This Saturday, from 10am-2pm, come to the AFT-Maryland Headquarters (5800 Metro Drive, Baltimore, Maryland, 21215) for an afternoon of knocking on fellow union members’ doors to encourage them to vote. We will fan out in teams to key locations in Baltimore City and Baltimore County to help get out the vote!

Help us Get Out the Vote!

We need your help to get out the vote for the upcoming General Election! AFT-Maryland is coordinating volunteers to make phone calls Mondays through Thursdays and Saturdays until Nov. 3rd. Call to sign up for a shift!

We are also canvassing neighborhoods with Labor-to-Labor Door-to-Door walks, Wednesday evenings and Saturdays. We are union members talking to other union members, encouraging our brothers & sisters to come out to vote on November 4th.

Write your legislators. State Employee Pensions AT RISK!

That’s right. Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley has submitted a budget that calls for reducing the state’s contribution to the pension plan by $100 million dollars a year.

That’s not fair! Click here to tell your legislators to vote against cutting the state's contribution to the pension fund.

Two years ago, that state required you to increase your contribution to the employee pension fund. In return, the legislature promised to contribute $300 million per year to that fund. Now, Governor O’Malley is breaking that promise. There are several problems with the governor’s proposal:
